about izzy.
Izzy Warner, born and bred north Londoner, first found her love of music in utero giving her mother grief dancing to calypso. Once actually on land, she genre skipped through loves of bluegrass, jazz singers, California soul and soft rock (mock shock horror). A formidable vocalist, it’s no surprise old movies with BIG songs still hold a place in her heart; Whitney riding high in the soundtrack stakes.
“Mum says I’ve always been drawn to powerful, strong female artists. At 5, she says I was doing ‘shockingly accurate’ impersonations of her record collection - Tina Turner, Whitney, Celine Dion and Cher. She is my mum though, so I would likely season that statement with a sizeable sprinkling of bias…”
Izzy's debut single Brand New was released in July 2020 on Wow & Flutter Records - an intoxicating pop banger with simmering verses which explode into an irresistible chorus. Izzy’s flawless pop vocal is a triumph as is the trademark ‘breath of fresh air’ production from Karl Zine (RINNGS, Hanne Mjoen, Jareth). With an ear for an infectious hook, Izzy’s music draws on both her talent as a writer and performer and her whirlwind past of tragedy, love, loss and perseverance which adds a disarming honesty to her lyrics. ‘Brand New’ may sound familiar. A cover version featured in the recent Will Ferrell film ‘Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of the Fire Saga’. Originally written with a group of songs in consideration for Izzy’s debut EP (October 2020), 'Brand New' was picked up for the soundtrack of the film alongside songs by a number of pop’s big gun songwriters, including the Weeknd and Savan Kotecha (Ariana Grande, Katy Perry).
